Kristen made a decision to have an abortion when she was sixteen years old. This “choice” led her down a dark path of drug addiction that lasted for twelve long years. This addiction led to a cycle of incarceration and desperation. There was a cry deep inside her soul for freedom.
JESUS literally rescued me out of a prison far worse than any jail I have ever been to. God’s love, His Word, and the power of the Holy Spirit-His very presence- healed every hurt and gave me the freedom I had been crying out for. God restored everything the enemy had stolen. Everything and more! God is a God of restoration and I long for others to know His love, feel His presence, and experience victory through God’s word!
I have spent eleven years counseling with women at a crisis pregnancy center, in prison ministry, and leading support groups. I realized that a few minutes in a counseling room, or a couple hours in the prison or support group sometimes is not enough. Without a place to go they will return to the abusive boyfriend, the crack house, the streets, the prison, or possibly end up dead!
I will never forget when God spoke to me and said “Pull them out of the fire, for some have escaped death for the last time!” It burns in my soul…. The Lord has given me a vision for a home for girls. He brought me to Hosea 2:15 where it says “There I will give her her vineyards and make the Valley of Achor (troubling) to be for her a door of hope and expectation” (Amplified). God promises to turn our trouble into hope! He also took me to one woman’s tragic story that has impacted my life. In Judges 19 her story is told. She was raped and beaten to death. She had managed to make it back to the house where she was reaching out for help and died there with her hand on the threshold of the door. I believe that when these girls are reaching out for help “A Door of Hope” will be there reaching back for them and we will bring them to the only one who can truly help them. Jesus.
Together we will see these girls born again, set free, healed, and restored. They will go on to fulfill the purpose for which they were created.
