self-harm

Self-harm is a way of expressing and dealing with deep distress and emotional pain. Injuring yourself is the only way you know how to cope with feelings like sadness, self-loathing, emptiness, guilt, and rage. The problem is that the relief that comes from self-harming doesn’t last very long.

So often when we are dealing with painful issues such as physical or sexual abuse, growing up in a broken or fatherless home, abortion, depression, or other trauma, we turn to people, sex, drugs, alcohol, pills, and/or cutting, to feel better.  Unfortunately these only offer temporary relief and not lasting change.  Until you are willing to face the truth of what the root of your problems really are you can never be truly healed or free from your past.

A Door of Hope is a place where you can work through your problems, and deal with the real reasons behind why you engage in self destructive behavior.   Jesus wants to heal your wounds, not just your physical wounds, but the deep hurts that you have been carrying on the inside of you.  Nobody can see inside you, but Jesus can.   He sees your pain.  If you are desperate for change we are here to help.
