To start off I’d like to say that I have been running to and from God my whole life. This is the latest installment in what God has done for me… and how he showed me that I have no choice, but to hand my life over to HIM! “God, please grant me the words to share YOUR glory! Amen!”

In January of 2013, I met someone and got involved in a very abusive relationship. By August, my son was covered in bruises and that guy and I were arrested. I was horrified!! My little boy was ripped out of my arms and left with someone he didn’t know! My first night in jail was HORRIBLE!!! The next day I was looking for a book to read, God literally dropped one at my feet. “He Came to Set the Captives Free” by Dr. Rebecca Brown M.D. That book changed my way of thinking. I started praying more and reading my Bible a lot more. Then one day Ms. Kristen and Ms. Louise came into the jail. I knew God brought them into my life and that they are true Christians. Something I have had a hard time finding my whole life.

I prayed and prayed for God to show me His will! He showed me that I was to go to school come January, and I never questioned Him! In October, I was released from jail.  After two and a half months of not seeing or talking to my baby, I finally got to hold him in my arms again!  I started going back to church, and doing Bible studies.  Finally, after a month or so, I came to see Ms. Kristen and Ms. Louise at A Door of Hope.  I love those Godly women so much it hurts!

I waited patiently and prayed for God to keep me on His path. He still said school was the way to go. A week before Christmas, I went ahead and called the college. Again and again, my prayers had been answered after Satan tried to break me down every time I followed God’s will and word!

Our God truly is an awesome God!! If He hadn’t continued to chase me, and ultimately putting me in the “belly of the fish”… I honestly think I’d have ended up dead, headed straight to Hell.

I leave you with something God taught me. Be patient when you cry out to Him! Don’t expect immediate answers… because we don’t always get them. He may not always give us what we want, but He ALWAYS gives us what we need! AND – “But let patience have her perfect work, so that you may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” James 1:4

I was raised in the church all my life.  I thought if I came here (ADOH) I would be judged by others because of my past. But the ladies here welcomed me with opened arms!

I was one of their first clients when they opened the doors in Sept 2013, I came with hurts from the past, lack of self confidence, low self-esteem and emotional pain. But after being here for 6 months,   I can finally hold my head up high.

I now know that the things that happened in my past are not my fault. I know that God forgives and throws the past into the sea of forgetfulness. I have learned to forgive others who have hurt me. I have learned that according to Ephesians 6:10-18, that I have to put on the full armor of God daily so I will be able to face the things of this world that come against me and when the enemy comes in and tries to throw the past in my face, all I have to do is just remember that no weapon formed against me shall prosper!

I know who I am in Christ. I am a child of God! A daughter of the King! I no longer walk with my head hung low. I hold it high now. All because of God’s grace and the work he has done in me. I know He is going to continue to work in me. He who began a good work in me will be faithful to complete it.

I want to end by saying a big THANK YOU to all of you who support this ministry and also to ALL the staff at ADOH! You have been a blessing to me and I love you all! God’s blessings are upon you, ADOH!
